The feeling I have while writing this review is very similar to when my mom wears an old saree which is suddenly the ‘in-thing’. The happiness and pride of already owning the latest trend is a pure joy. My outfits’ collection is not that great to let me indulge in such emotions. However, I do experience the same excitement whenever I discover any latest lip shade in my huge stash. This year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Marsala, which is described as anything from a rosy-brown to deeper wine shades. And looks like I have some pretty good matches to this shade.
Today’s review is on a lighter Marsala shade – Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in 915B Spiked with Rum.
Color: Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in 915B Spiked with Rum is a difficult color to describe. But that was probably before Marsala became popular as a color. To me, the shade is definitely a variant of Marsala shade. However, to a lay(wo)man, the shade is a beautiful muted warm pink with brown undertones. And no, it does not stop here. The color is a chameleon and may look more brown or more red in certain lights. But nonetheless, it is a gorgeous shade that is quite subtle and has earthy tones to it. Will look lovely on all the skin tones and on all the occasions. For me, it falls in the subtle lip shades; for someone else it could be as bright as she may go.
Quality: Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in 915B Spiked with Rum has a creamy and smooth texture. Though it is a matte finish, it has a slight sheen to it which makes lips look lively. The lipstick may feel drying after a while, if you have dry lips to start with. It can also emphasize fine lines. So, it is better to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before you wear this lipstick. It does transfer to an extent, so be wary if you are wearing it on your date night. ;) The pigmentation is mind blowing. One swipe is enough for a saturated wash on your lips. You can, obviously, layer it more to further intensify the shade. However, lot of layering could make it look streaky. So, blend well.
Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in 915B Spiked with Rum has quite an impressive staying power. It stays on my lips for an average of 5-6 hours and still leaves a stain behind. The packaging has always been the ‘black sheep’ of Wet N Wild family. The lipstick is packaged in a black plastic tube with a clear cap. The bullet is shaped like a lip-balm and does not retract completely. So, you need to be extra careful while putting the cap on as the lipstick might get nicked. Though all the lipsticks come with both the numbers and the name of the shades mentioned on the bottom, mine has only the number mentioned. Anyways, whats in a name. ;)
