The Maybelline Colorsensational Rebel Bouquet (called Rebel Bloom in the US) is a recent launch by Maybelline as a part of their Summer Collection 2015. Though only 6 shades have been launched in India, but they are all amazing bright lip colours perfect for summers! I picked up one shade from this range called “REB04”. Let me tell you about my experience with this baby.

Product Description: Now lips blossom with attitude as pastels go bold and rebellious! Taking inspiration from the Rebel Bouquet Collection that encapsulates the trendiest shades for this Spring Summer, Color Sensational- Maybelline New York’s power franchise at the helm of new shades and textures brings to you Color Sensational Rebel Bouquet. My Experience with Maybelline Colorsensational Rebel Bouquet Lipstick in REB04

I so don’t like when makeup companies come out with lipsticks and name them numbers and some odd codes!! This same range in the USA has 10 vivacious shades with super cute names. Such partiality Maybelline?? How sad!! Anyways, let’s see how this lipstick fares in terms of the following parameters.

Packaging: The packaging of these lipsticks is identical to the regular Colorsensational Lipsticks. It has a long cap that covers the lipstick tube completely and is color coded. The top of the cover has a mirror like finish which is great for touch ups. A sticker is placed on the bottom of the lipstick tube which mentions the shade name. The cover does close with a click sound and is travel friendly due to its sturdy packaging. Super packaging!

Colour: Ooohh!!! Pretty! Beautiful! Gorgeous! I seriously go weak in the knee when I spot a coral lippie leaning more towards orange. That’s my most favourite kind of shade when it comes to lipsticks. This baby is a perfect mix of coral-y pink-y orange. It’s not a very neon shade per say, but it’s bright enough as compared to regular shades. This is one of the very few bright shades that suits all skin tones. It’s my latest favourite shade and obsession! Ok Maybelline, I can forgive you for naming it a boring REB04…hehe…

Texture: The texture of this lippie is neither matte, nor glossy. It’s like a semi-matte lipstick that is a perfect combination of creamy plus matte lipstick. It’s neither too matte to feel uncomfortable, nor too creamy to just slide off the lips. All in all, it’s just perfect!

Smell: This baby does not have any fragrance or taste whatsoever. I like that!

Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this lipstick is very good. Its gives a good colour pay off in one swipe but it is also buildable. For a full bright pout, it can be layered on the lips and it does not cake up or feel heavy. I really adore this feature as it can be worn sheer or bright depending on your mood. It also leaves a slight tint on the lips which look very pretty.

Longevity: This lipstick stays on me for a good 4 to 5 hours after blotting and dabbing it with powder. That’s the general way I apply all my lipsticks. Even after 5 hours it leaves a stain, but for a full colour, re-application is necessary.

Quality: The overall quality of this product is quite delightful and beyond satisfactory. The only shortcoming of this baby that I see is that it does cling to dry patches of the lips and hence exfoliation and lip balm application is necessary for people with dry lips (like me). Leaving that apart, this lipstick is just fantastic!

Recommendation: If you are intrigued by the Rebel Bouquet Range of lipsticks launched by Maybelline, I would highly recommend that you grab this colour! It’s a very interesting shade and will suit all skin tones and ages. If you always wanted to try a bright lipstick but they never suit you, this is the time and the shade you should go for. But if you do not like this colour or bright colours in general, then you can give it a pass. But other than that, try one new bright shade this summer and enjoy the brightness and glow these pops of colours can add to your face!
