It was in a random conversation with one of my friends (who always seems to be heartbroken) that I realised that perhaps we tend to date  different versions of the same guy (atleast she does) . They might have different jobs, different looks, different ways of presenting themselves but at the heart of it all of them had the same type of value structure which clearly doesn’t seem to be working too well for her at the minute. Honestly, I don’t have enough dating experience to vouch for this but I do have a certain ‘type’ I am attracted to- not in terms of looks but in terms of say ambition, values, attitude to family, their core drivers in life. So if you are attracted to the wrong type for you, how do you break that habit ? How do you consciously go out and make an effort to NOT date the type that’s not  worked for you? Do you consciously make checkboxes and tick away? Do you watch out for warning signals or is it all just one big hopeless cycle that you cannot stop?

Its kind of the same funda in fashion and makeup. While my brain tells me to experiment, and to try out that vampy new lip color or that bright fire engine red, at the end of the day my lipstick drawer pretty much looks like different versions of the same dusty pink I like to wear everyday.  Just like that guy who you used to date, its comfortable, its familiar and I know how to use it well!

Maybelline’s Colorsensational lipstick in Rebel 07 is just that – almost a dupe for Mac Cosmo if you may (except this is slightly pinker), It is a warm, dusty pink which is fabulous for my skin tone, and the perfect type of pink lip for Indian girls. For those starting out with makeup- this is the lipstick that wont scare you away, it just gives a subtle pastel wash of color on the lips and duskier girls may enjoy it as well.

In terms of texture and all that jazz- starting with what I don’t like is that these are kind of sticky. No, I’m not saying you will be found stuck to glass walls, but when you press your lips together they feel a little bit more sticky than the rest of the lipsticks I wear. Apart from that I love them, they are pigmented, they are long staying (5 hours and more on me), they are super creamy and while they may not be moisturizing , I cannot call them drying either.

Excuse the tired face. This is after a long flight !

Verdict: B+

Price: Rs 428/-

Recommendation: LOVE this color- this soft dusty pink is my go to everyday shade for work and for play and those with my skin tones, or even darker or lighter will love this. Also a great color if you are starting out with makeup. These lipsticks have incredible pigmentation, creamy finish and good lasting power (5 hours) but they do feel a bit sticky on the lips. They aren’t moisturizing but they aren’t drying either.
