Hope you are all doing well. I was lost in deep thoughts last week, tired after a full hectic week and busy flipping pages of a glossy magazine. I realized that all I was doing was just turning page by page and not reading anything but wherever there was anything related to make up my eyes would stop there automatically without any second thoughts and my mind would wander into the makeup world and lust for more and more of the same. Guess that’s what is called Make –up-holism. The colors, tips, tricks related to make up would immediately waver and you would indirectly start making a wish list or to buy list of it. The story of the lipstick I am going to review today MAC Satin Lipstick “Captive” was a result of the above said.
Packaging: The MAC Satin lipstick “Captive” come in the regular bullet shaped dull black packaging with frosted silver inside. The name MAC is beautifully printed on the cap in silver and the name of the lipstick color on its bottom. The silver interior too has MAC printed in Black.
Shade: MAC Satin lipstick is a beautiful pinkish plum shade or rather a berry plum shade. It is kind of semi sheer and the true color can be visible in two swipes on the lips. The shade is easily buildable. It’s very much a wearable shade. It’s a safe shade for most skin tones to give a nice presentable look. It does not contain any shimmers.
Texture: This comes from the MAC Satin family and glides on easily without any kind of tugs due to its smooth, satiny and creamy texture. I generally have a habit of applying lip balm to prep my lips. Even without a lip balm this one is sure to get a smooth glide without appearing cakey.
Staying Power: The lipstick stays put decently for up to 5 or 6 hours with light food or drinks. As it fades it gives the lips a naturally purplish – pinkish like of look. It feels very light on the lips and does not settle between fine lines even after hours of application and does not bleed at all.
Pigmentation: Mac Satin Captive is a good pigmented lipstick which covers up the lips quite well in a single swipe. To add more intensity two three swipes of the lipstick are good to go.
Removal: Mac Satin Captive slowly fades off after long hours to give a natural look to the lips however the same can be removed with any cleanser or make up remover without pains.
Pros of Mac Satin Captive:
- Smooth satiny finish
- Highly pigmented
- Does not dry the lips
- Easily removable with any make up remover
- Suits most skin types
- Good staying power
Cons of Mac Satin Captive:
- Transfers easily( which is most likely the case with all the lipsticks)
Price: Rs. 1450
Recommendation: Mac Satin Captive is a very wearable every day shade which is sure to enhance the beauty of any Make up vanity and face. For me it’s a no problem, long lasting, beautifully pigmented must have shade which I am going to repurchase again and again.
