Things I like about my hair – The length, texture and the fact that its thick and black. Things I don’t like about my hair ? The frizzy frizzy ends. So difficult to tame. Its no surprise then that I wanted to hop on the Argan Oil bandwagon considering its claim to fame as being a “miracle” product for the hair.

Label Speak : Contains Morocco’s Argan oil that softens hair, restores shine, strengthens hair, protects from UV, heals damaged hair. Vitamin E deeply nourishes hair and UV Filters protect hair from the sun. Conditioning agent from Japan delivers long lasting radiance and shine to hair. De-tangles your hair, prevents breakage. With sunscreen. Makes hair silky and smooth.

My opinion : The serum comes in a pretty pink bottle with a pump dispenser and a plastic cap. Ideally, it has to be applied to towel dried damp hair (post shampoo + conditioner). Depending on your hair length, 2-3 pumps of the product has to be applied to the ends and not the roots. It is a clear serum with no discernible fragrance and a liquid consistency. It is a bit oily but not overly so – just the right amount to tame the dry ends.

When I apply the serum to damp hair it seeps in pretty quickly and makes it easier to comb. I’m quite happy to report that it does a fairly good job at settling frizzy ends and my hair does feel a bit softer and smoother when it dries. I find myself reaching for it more during humid weather conditions as that’s when my hair misbehaves the most à la Monica Geller from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Do you remember her hair in Barbados ? That’s the story of my hair too. This product is far better than the regular Livon on the shelves which seems a bit too oily for my liking and does nothing to soften my hair. In the interest of full disclosure, I did not see any significant radiance or shine in my hair post use as claimed on the brand’s website. It also didn’t heal damaged hair (I didn’t expect it too either, that requires deep conditioning).

Pros :

  • Tames frizzy hair
  • Affordable
  • Softens and smoothens hair

Cons :

  • Doesn’t restore shine or heal damaged hair

Verdict : A

Price : Rs.259 / 59 ml

Recommendation : If dry, frizzy hair is the bane of your life – do give this a try purely for the fact that it contains Argania spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil. It is easy on the pocket and quite easily found on shelves.
