Guest Review by Simran (Skin type – Normal to dry, Skin tone – Fair)

Hello everyone ! Acne has been and still is a part of all of our lives. At one point of time or another, all of us go through a bad breakout phase. Last year, I went through such a phase and after experimenting with a great amount of products, I found something which works for me; that is the Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream and I will be reviewing it today.

Claims : Get rid of acne and blemishes with Fabindia Clove Cream for Acne Control. This is a light base cream especially for oily skin. Helps control excess emission of sebum from the skin thereby reducing acne and blemishes. Fabindia Clove Cream for Acne Control will help soothe the redness and pain caused by acne. Being anti-bacterial, it prevents from any infections caused by acne. This will help control oil secretion. Noticeable improvement in skin texture, clean and blemish free skin.

Packaging : I’m not a huge fan of the packaging of the product due to hygiene reasons. The cream comes in a simple tub, nothing fancy. The cap is in screw-shut form and won’t leak in your purse if you decide to carry it around.

My take on the product : As I mentioned before, I had a ruthless breakout last year which honestly left me with social anxiety. After trying out several products, I finally landed on this cream. It’s texture is neither thick nor runny. Once you apply the cream on your face, it stings horribly (due to the presence of clove) but after 2 minutes, the stinging stops and you might have slightly red skin if you have sensitive skin. The cream takes about 4-5 weeks to calm down your acne and you can see visible results within a week.

The quantity offered at the price is great and a single tub would last you about 3-4 months since you only need a pea-sized amount for each use. The brand suggests users to apply the cream twice a day but I used it only as a night cream. You can even put on makeup after applying the cream. The cream also works as a spot treatment. This is possibly the best budget acne control cream available in India.

Pros :

  • Delivers on its claims
  • Affordable
  • Reduces acne visibly

Cons :

  • Stings
  • Unhygienic tub packaging

Verdict : A-

Price : INR 190 for 50 gms of product.

Recommendation : I would definitely recommend this cream to anyone suffering from acne since it worked wonders for my skin and helped me clear my acne to a great extent.

Congrats on finding such an effective remedy! There are few things worse than a sudden but stubborn acne breakout. I wonder if the methyl and propyl parabens could have also contributed to the temporary stinging sensation?

Thankyou for your comment Chris!
Yes, that can be a reason for the tingling sensation it leaves on the skin. x

I remember using their Clove gel pack a long time back and I loved it. It helped with the breakouts a lot!

I tried getting the clove gel pack, too. But, it was out of stock in the store. x

What kind of finish it gives? I am searching for a good and mattifying face moisturizer for my acne prone skin..

Simran September 1, 2016 at 6:02 pm

It gives a matte finish.
You can use it under your makeup.
But, if you do have acne prone skin and need a good base moisturiser; do try papulex cream. I highly recommend it :)
