When it comes to makeup, I really like to use beauty sponges for my base. The original Beauty Blender is so expensive and not easily available in India. So today, I am going to review one of my favourites i.e. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which is a dupe of the original beauty blender. I have been using this for the past 3 weeks and I am already in love.

Product claims : “This versatile beauty tool was designed with revolutionary foam technology to evenly blend makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish. Use damp for a dewy glow or dry for full coverage. For best results, replace your makeup sponge every 1-3 months.”

  • Rounded sides blend large areas of the face with a dabbing motion
  • Precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections
  • Flat edge for contouring around the eyes and nose
  • Ideal for liquid foundation
  • Latex-free

Packaging: It comes in a hard transparent plastic case in which the details of the product have been written.

The sponge is bright orange in colour. It feels so soft and cushiony. It has a tear drop shape on one edge and a flat cut edge at the other end.

How I use it : The tear drop part can be used for blending concealer around the eyes. The flat part is used for compact powder and cream blush and the wide round area can be used for blending foundation.. It blends so flawlessly that the base feels like second skin. I have also applied my pressed powder or loose powder using this and the results were amazing. You can also contour using this but I’m not a  contour person so I haven’t tried that yet.

To get a dewy finish, I place it under running water and squeeze out the excess. The sponge soaks up water and grows in size. Then I apply my foundation all over my face and neck; blend it using this in a dabbing or patting motion. It gives me medium to high coverage depending on the foundation. A swiping motion gives me sheer coverage.  The best part is that it also works with BB creams. It does not need any separate product to clean it like the original beauty blender. I just washed it using my daughter’s baby shampoo.

  • Good quality dupe of the original beauty blender
  • Easily available, affordable
  • Gives the most flawless and natural finish.
  • Blends everything – foundation, compact, blush, contour powder, highlighter.
  • Easily washable with baby shampoo.

  • Longevity – May break after 5-6 washes if you use it on a daily basis.

Verdict : A

Price : $6 on official site (I bought it from Amazon for Rs.380)

Recommendation : I have never used the original beauty blender, so I can’t make a comparison between the two. But it works for me and delivers on all its claims. If you do not give it a try, you would definitely miss out on a great product. I will definitely repurchase it again and again.

This sounds like a great alternative to the beauty blender! Thanks for the detailed review.

I have used Inglot beauty blender and I totally love its quality. It is quite similar to the original beauty blender. This one is also my favorite.

Welcome dear. This sponge has skin like texture on it. So it blends flawlessly.

Great review. Though this looks like a nice dupe, Beauty blender is my Holy grail.

sad that it breaks after few uses, that’s what happened to one of my sponges

P.Ganguly August 21, 2016 at 11:16 pm

Yes it breaks early, but it’s a total steal in this price range.
