Today I will be sharing my experience with Smokin’ Eyes Smudger Brush from the house of Colorbar. This brush came in my READY TO WINK eye-brush kit which is a set of 3 essential eye makeup brushes but it is also available in individual packaging.

Claims : Smoke your way to seductive eyes with this domed smudger that expertly blends eyeshadows/liners for some serious smoulder. The curvy tip controls how much color goes where, with minimum mess. No more panda eyes!

How to Use : Smudge shadow/liner by using small, controlled strokes while pressing the tip against the lash line.

How to Cleanse : Gently clean the brush by washing with mild shampoo and cold water, rinse and leave to air-dry.

My Views : This smudger brush comes in a black plastic reusable pouch. The packaging looks attractive and smart. It is quite user friendly as well. The pouch is not too lengthy and fits in almost every makeup pouch I own. Overall I find this brush kit very travel friendly.

The Smokin` Eyes Smudger Brush is a decent looking dome shaped pencil brush. The handle is made up of hard plastic bearing the typical Colorbar logo and the bristle holder is metallic. The bristles are soft but firm. They are red in colour and densely packed. The bristles of the brush are tapered to give it dome shape.

Heavily kohled lower lash-line is my favourite everyday eye-makeup. To create this look, I apply kohl all over the lower lashline and soften the harsh edges with this dome shaped brush. This way my kohl stays in place longer. This tightly packed smudger brush distributes kajal evenly with less effort from my side.  I have also used this brush for highlighting the inner corners of my eye. I do not use highlighter for my inner corners. I take a bit of pressed powder on the tip of this brush and apply it lightly. This adds a subtlety to the whole look. When I want heavy highlighting I wet the pencil brush with a drop of rose water and then take highlighter. The wet application packs more colour. As this brush is tightly packed less amount of product goes a long way. I tried highlighting my brow bone with it too. It took more time but the result was good.

I have washed my brush 2-3 times. I follow the washing instructions word by word while cleansing it. I think that is why I have not experienced bristle shedding. When I washed it for the first time there was a little bleeding of the red bristle colour. From the second wash onwards, I did not see any bleeding. I can see no change in its original shape after washing.

  • Pocket-friendly
  • Soft yet firm bristles
  • No shedding
  • Maintains shape after washing

  • Bristle colour bleeding after first wash

Verdict : A +

Price : INR 250 for Individual Pack (INR 550 for Eye-brush Kit)

Recommendation : This was my first smudger brush and I am very happy with its effectiveness. This cost effective brush can be used for smudging eye-shadows or kajals as well as for perfectly highlighting inner corner and brow bone of the eye. I would recommend this to anybody who needs a budget pencil brush.
