Today I will be talking about color correcting. I came to know about this technique earlier in 2016 and was very intrigued. I had never used a lot of concealers before as I don’t have any dark circles under my eyes, redness, acne etc (Touchwood). I picked this palette from Singapore Sephora and when I first saw it, it looked really interesting !! I thought I don’t NEED this palette; but I occasionally do my mom’s makeup so I bought it just in case. I didn’t open my palette for months and then one day I decided I should atleast give it a try and see how it works. And I am glad I picked it up!

Packaging : Nothing too fancy, it comes in a clear plastic palette so that you can see all the color correctors inside. The reverse side of the palette comes with information about the ingredients and other basic details. If you take a closer look at the ingredients, it has a lot of silicone in it. Silicone mainly helps smooth out the skin and give a nice flawless base.

My experience : When I used it for the first time I just had a little bit of redness around my cheeks. The green corrector concealed it fully. My expectations grew and I gave another shot when I had really tired looking under eyes. That was the real test ! I used the peach corrector to cover my tired under eyes and some green around my nose. The texture of the concealers is very smooth. It feels feather light on the skin as though you have nothing on. The concealers are very very creamy in texture. It may feel dry to girls who have extremely dry skin. It works well on my combination skin.  The concealers have medium to full coverage. It covered all my problem areas in a go! As the concealers are very creamy it is easy to mix the colors to achieve the desired finish.

How to use Color Correcting Concealers : If you have issues with dark circles, redness or dull skin then color correcting is god’s gift to you. Here are a few things to keep in mind- Always blend the corrector in a patting motion,  never drag the product. Never use too much of the product at once, start with a thin layer and build up according to your requirements. When you apply your foundation or concealer over the corrector, always use a stippling motion to blend. Do no swipe.  For those who are wondering which color corrector is used for what purpose, here’s a quick guide:

  • The yellow corrector can be used as a base for your foundation or highlighting.
  • For redness or acne scars use a green corrector.
  • To brighten up you face use a lavender corrector.
  • Peach corrector can be used for eliminating darkness under eyes & veins.
  • The last two shades, tan and brown are great for spot concealing if it’s a match for your skin tone. Or they can be used for contouring.

Pros :

  • Cruelty free
  • Affordable, easily available
  • Feels light weight
  • Great palette for beginners.
  • Great pigmentation.
  • Travel friendly

Cons :

  • May not work for people with extremely dry skin.

Verdict : A +

Price :  INR 1325 on Nykaa. I got mine for 20 SGD.

Recommendation : I love this palette because of its smooth creamy texture and blendability. I would have totally regretted it if this was not in my vanity. I recommend this to everyone. Beginners would totally love it!

well reviewed. i usually just slap on my concealer but on days i have extreme dark circles, it can look ashy so i think i’d need a correcter then. this looks like a great buy, useful to have all the shades in one palette x

Thank you Aditi! using loads of product at once is really one of the major makeup mistakes ever!
If you have extreme dark circles do try LA corrector in orange! its extremely orange and can cover most of the darkness possible!
