We’re back with another volume of our #BridalMakeupBreakdown series and this time we’re featuring Real Bride Dhanika of Dhanika Choksi Photography. She looked absolutely radiant at her wedding and we’re totally crushing on her classic red lips and pastel lehenga. Dhanika’s makeup was very natural and effortlessly pretty to look at. We asked her Makeup Artist Rehat Brar to deconstruct the bridal look and she was more than happy to spill the beans. Over to Rehat :

Rehat says, “Dhanika had already seen my work, so she knew exactly what to expect. Since hers was a day wedding, the most important thing was to ensure that the makeup looked pretty and natural. The hair was decided on the spot, we always do that keeping in mind the bride’s comfort level with a particular look. She didn’t want anything over the top or puffy but something that could hold its own the entire day.

Face : Let’s start with the base makeup. The foundation I used for her was the MAC Studio Fix in NC 40 combined with a lighter concealer that doubled up as a highlighter : Nars Radiant creamy concealer in Ginger. The Beauty blender is my favourite tool to blend everything together and give a flawless finish. To set the makeup in place, I used the Laura Mercier setting powder.

The one tip that I give to all my brides is that skin cleansing and moisturizing is the key to make any kind of makeup look good. If the skin is undernourished, it will show through immediately. So, everyone whether bride-to-be or not should focus on keeping their skin moisturized.

To ensure her skin had that bridal glow, I used Mac Soft and Gentle to illuminate the high points of her face. Mac powder in Sculpt (limited edition) was used to contour and NARS blush in Orgasm was used on the cheeks.

Eyes : I started with Benefit Gimme Brow on the eyebrows and then lined her eyes with the Urban Decay Perversion pencil. For the eye shadows, Urban Decay Naked 1 palette was used. To finish off the eye makeup and accentuate the lashes MAC water proof mascara and Lashes were used.

Lips : I decided on MAC Ruby Woo on the lips. It is a classic red that flatters most Indian skin tones. And with that Dhanika was all set to tie the knot.”

Wow, can’t take my eyes off of her. She looks stunning.

I remember my wedding day makeup was a disaster, I had to wipe most of the makeup layers before rushing to the wedding ceremony.
