I’m a lipstick lover and own only a handful of high-end lipsticks (Bobbi Brown, Dior and Givenchy). I’m a sucker for affordable makeup that also performs well. That said, luxe and cute packaging make me go weak in the knees. Recently, I splurged on a Chanel lipstick. It cost me an arm and a leg but made me feel oh so special !
Packaging : This lipstick will make you feel like you’re holding a piece of jewellery. The outer body is glossy black and on the inside its metallic gold. Once you press the bottom of the lipstick, it will pop out. When the SA did this in the store, all I wanted to do was jump and cry. But sanity prevailed and I let out a simple Ooh *_* In fact, I don’t even have the heart to ruin the embossing on the bullet. So, I’ve been using it sparingly.
Texture : It applies like a dream and hardly clings to dry patches. If you have parched lips, you’re definitely going to love how incredibly moisturizing it is. Even when layered it does not turn patchy. It keeps the lips hydrated as long as it’s there on your lips. My only issue here is that for the price it comes at, it doesn’t feel very light-weight on the lips.
Finish : Initially, the finish is moderately glossy. But after an hour or so, it makes way for a satin finish.
Pigmentation : It starts from being sheer but you can easily get full coverage out of it.
Staying power : Although the color wears off after some 3-4 hours, you don’t have to worry about applying an immediate touch-up. That’s because it stains the lips and there’s no prominent ring formation. Also, it does not turn flaky or collect at the corners of my lips. To make it last longer, I always use the blotting method and give it a good 30 minutes to settle down before I start eating/drinking.
Shade : Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color 91, Seduisante is a medium cool toned pink. However, it has this slight warm undertone which prevents it from looking weird on my warm complexion. It’s the most unique pink I own. I got tempted more by the shade than I did by the packaging. I think it’s best suited for people with light to medium skin tones.
- Deluxe packaging
- Does not magnify dry patches or lip lines
- Well pigmented to cover the natural color of your lips
- Creamy but not to the extent of setting into lip lines
- Doesn’t collect at the corners of lips with the passage of time
- Stays on for a moderately long time
- Doesn’t feel very light-weight
Verdict : A
Price : Rs. 2800 for 3.5 gm
Recommendation : Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip ‘Color 91 Seduisante’ is a luxury item. I’ll not say that I haven’t come across such a formula before. I have, but the fact that it’s a Chanel lipstick, is what makes it a treat to own ! The good looks don’t deceive you as the lipstick scores high on the quality aspect too.
