2016 was completely owned by Maybelline with back to back launches and improving their quality of products. Recently, Maybelline launched its first ever cushion foundation which is said to be an all in one foundation that improves skin texture and also gives high coverage. How did it fare ? Read on to find out.

Packaging : The foundation comes in a very sturdy compact like packaging with a mirror attached to it. The packaging feels very luxurious and not flimsy. There is a push button which opens the product. It also comes with a foam cushion. The compact comes in an attractive gold-bronze cardboard packaging with has all the details mentioned regarding the product. The brand has also given a “how-to-use” column which is very useful if you are using cushion foundation for the first time. As the packaging is sturdy, it is great for travelling too.

Texture : The texture of the product is airy and porous. It feels very soft like cotton.

Pigmentation & Coverage : The brand claims that the foundation is high-coverage, sadly it is not. It has light to medium coverage which is great for daily use. The foundation also contains SPF 29/PA+++. Girls with normal to dry skin will enjoy it the most as it has hydrating properties and a light weight formula. It imparts a very subtle and healthy glow to the skin. The finish of the foundation is semi-matte and does not look flat on the face. It will not cover any serious acne scars or pigmentation so you have to use other products with it as well. It photographs really well in natural light and skin looks healthy and young.

Overall, I like this one as a daily wear foundation as I have normal-dry skin. Girls with oily skin may not enjoy it so much as it will give an illusion of oilier skin.

Swatch- shade light

Pros :

  • Travel friendly.
  • Easily available.
  • Very light weight formula, does not get cake-y when layered

Cons :

  • Available only in 2 shades, natural and light.
  • Expensive
  • Does not live up to claim of being high coverage.

Verdict : B+

Price : INR 1200 /14 g

Recommendation : The biggest drawback is the limited shade range. If you can find one that matches your skintone, its a good concept worth trying. Easy to use, smooth texture and lightweight formulation. It has a sponge + mirror in it and can be carried around in a handbag for touch-ups.

Unfortunately, this foundation probably wouldn’t work for my oily skin. But it does sound like a great everyday product for others!

Yes oily skin people wouldn’t love it. I like it for daily wear for my dry skin.

On my last visit to local beauty store, the SA almost lured me buying this. Does not sound like a must to me.

Thanks for the review.

If the coverage isn’t that great then I guess the price point would slightly hurt :(

It’s nice that cushion foundations are finally available in India but why is the shade selection always so bad.
