Guest Review by Sreeparna Ganguly (Skin type- Combination to oily, acne-prone; Skin tone- Fair)

Today I will be sharing my views of White Tea Face Mask from Korea’s No.1 skin care brand The Face Shop. When I came to know about the launch of The Face Shop in India, I thought it would be on the expensive side like most overseas brands that import products in our country. But to my surprise that was not the case with this brand. So, I got the chance to try The Face Shop’s vast range of sheet masks in my stipulated budget. I got myself three sheet masks. Today’s review will be about one of the three. Keep reading to know how it fared.

Claims : “The mask sheet drenched in serum with young Green tea leaves brightens and clears skin. (Drenched in clear serum/ Formula without added parabens)”

Packaging & Appearance : The white tea infused sheet mask comes in a gray-green matte sealed sachet. The front side of the sheet mask bears an eye soothing label depicting the major constituent of the mask- fresh tea leaves. On the back of the sachet is some useful information regarding the product (the claims, usage instructions, ingredients etc.) mentioned in multiple languages. The sachet needs to be cut to take out the use-and-throw sheet mask. Overall, the packaging is user friendly and very convenient to use.

Inside the sachet there sits a serum-saturated sheet mask. The sheet is made up soft cotton and is white in colour. The serum is basically a transparent liquid slightly thicker than alcohol free toners.

Fragrance : The clear serum of this mask smells like fresh tea leaves. The fragrance is not too strong to overpower the senses. The top note of the smell goes off after sometime leaving behind a mild hint.

Effectiveness : Somewhere on the web I read that the sheet masks perform better when they can penetrate deep into the skin. So, before applying this green tea mask, I performed a basic two step cleanup (cleansing and exfoliation) on my face. Then I adjusted the mask on my face following the usage instructions. The mask gave a nice soothing and cooling effect to the skin as the water content of the serum absorbed and evaporated. I kept the mask for 20 minutes and then I massaged the excess serum with gentle hands. To tell you the truth, I kept my expectation low because it was my first time. But to my surprise, the result managed to exceed my expectation. Obviously, I could see no miracle, but my face looked hydrated and the dryness from the weather extremities was gone too. It did not irritate my skin or cause new breakouts. It gave a sheer glow to my skin that stayed for 2 days just like the effects of salon facials. I am happy that I found a good substitute for expensive salon facials at a fraction of their price point. Now I would not have to spend a fortune for a 2-day-glow before special occasions.

Pros :

  • Easy-to-use
  • Gives supple skin and sheer glow
  • Enriched with fresh tea leaves and grapefruit
  • Pocket-friendly
  • Paraben free formula

Cons :

  • Effect is temporary
  • Not entirely free of chemicals

Verdict : A+

Price : INR 100 for 1 Sachet

Recommendation : I would suggest this sheet mask to someone who is searching for a skin clearing budget sheet mask. People who have a special occasion looming on the horizon, but are unable to visit a salon for facials may find it useful too.
