Maybelline is amusing everyone with back to back new launches. Every month the brand comes up with something new and being my favourite drugstore brand, I cannot stop myself from getting the newbies. When it launched the Just Bitten line, I was very intrigued as it was a totally new concept. I got one in the shade RD01 Raspberry Smoothie, which has beautiful pink and nude tones in it.

Packaging : The product comes in the standard Maybelline lipstick packaging, this one has a pink plastic lid to it and the actual bullet is silver colored. The lipstick has a plastic wrap which has all the details regarding the product, ingredients list, price etc.

Texture & Pigmentation : The lipstick has very creamy and smooth texture to it. It smells like candies which I really love. It gives a glossy finish. The colour payoff is quite weak. You have to swipe several times to get the color, especially with the lightest shade. It does feel very comfortable and light on the lips.

How it Works : As the brand suggests, you need to use the lightest color on the inner side to get the desired ombre effect. As the pigmentation is weak, I swiped it a couple of times on my lips which led to mixing of colors. You really have to be careful while using it. Also the tip is curvy so I found it difficult to line my lips properly.

However, at the end of the day it leaves behind gorgeous pink colored flushed lips. It lasts for maximum 4-5 hours.

Pros :

  • New concept in the Indian market.
  • Suited for people who like flushed lips.
  • Very comfortable and light formula.

Cons :

  • Weak pigmentation.
  • Expensive because the desired effect doesn’t stay for long.

Verdict : B

Price : INR 475 for 3.9 grams.

Recommendation : In a nutshell, I believe this product can be skipped as at the end of the day it does the job of a lip balm. It does feel hydrating but doesn’t come across as a lipstick to me.
