Guest Review by Sreeparna Ganguly (Skin type- Combination to oily, acne-prone; Skin tone- Fair)

The Blueberry Face Mask is basically a one-time-use sheet mask which is a part of the ‘Firming’ range of sheet masks from Korean brand The Face Shop. The White Tea and Aҫai Berry face mask from the same brand have already been reviewed on P&B. In today’s review, I would try to present a comparative view of this mask with the other variants.

Claims : The mask sheet with Blueberry essence (the gifted “super food”) replenishes skin’s moisture barrier to protect its energy and vitality and help create baby-soft skin. (Drenched with emulsified moisturizing serum/ Formula without added parabens)

Packaging & Appearance : The Blueberry sheet mask is packet in a matte blue plastic use-and-throw sachet. The Face Shop has made this face mask’s packaging an eye candy by depicting a bowl of fresh Blueberries from which rich blue syrup is dripping. The sachet needs to be cut to take out the sheet mask. Overall, the packaging is user-friendly and very convenient to use. Inside the sachet, you will find a serum-saturated sheet mask. The sheet is made up soft cotton and is white in colour. According to the brand, the sheet is designed in layers. The serum gets trapped between the layers helping the mask remain moist for long. The serum is a transparent liquid slighter thicker than normal alcohol-free toners. However, its consistency is lighter than The White Tea variant and somehow similar to The Aҫai Berry variant. That is why it does not feel overly moisturizing. People of any skin type (except for very sensitive skin) may go for it.

Fragrance : The serum of this mask has berry fragrance similar to the Aҫai Berry variant. But, my nose could identify the faint note of blueberry scent in it. The smell felt quite refreshing and luxurious. The fragrance is not too strong to cause headaches or anything like that. The top note of the smell goes off after sometime but I can sniff a hint of it for 1-2 hours as I do not rinse my face with water immediately after removing the sheet from my face.

Effectiveness : I have had good results with blueberry enriched products earlier. These were two main reasons for buying this face mask in spite of owning the Aҫai Berry sheet mask from the same ‘Firming’ range of The Face Shop Real Nature. Well, after using it I feel it’s good that I tried this one because it worked for my skin. This one is the third step of my weekly skin pampering routine followed by two steps of deep cleansing, cleansing and exfoliating. I start by adjusting the mask in a comfortable position and then wait for 20 minutes to let the serum get soaked into the skin. After removing the mask from the face I dab the excess serum to my skin. This way the skin does not feel sticky and the precious serum gets fed to my freshly cleansed skin. This face mask gave an instant moisture boost to my skin and the skin looked healthy and glowing. The pores were less visible. Thankfully, it did not aggravate my pimples or cause new breakouts. Its effects felt quite similar to the Aҫai Berry variant in terms of moisturizing power. So, it may make my skin super oily if I use it in humid summer. As I do not have mature skin, I am not the best person to comment on the firming effects it is supposed to give.

Pros :

  • Application is very easy
  • Replenishes moisture deficiency of skin and makes it glow in health
  • Infused with Blueberry and grapefruit extract
  • Affordable price-point
  • Paraben-free formula

Cons :

  • Effect lasts maximum 3 days in my case
  • Not entirely free from chemicals

Verdict : A+

Price : INR 100 for 1 Sachet

Recommendation : I would suggest this face mask to anyone who is searching for a ready-to-use affordable sheet mask to rejuvenate and re-hydrate the skin at home. This mask can be a great last minute option to achieve glowing skin before attending functions and parties.
