Guest Review by Sreeparna Ganguly (Skin type- Combination to oily, acne-prone; Skin tone- Fair)

Packaging: The lip balm comes in a sleek and shiny twist-up bullet. The bullet is taller than other collections of lip balms from the same line, though the amount of product is just half. According to the shade of the balm tint the stick is coloured neon pink. I find the packaging cute looking, travel-safe; just perfect to lift up my mood on-the-go!

Shade: The shade Beaming Violet is a bright blue-toned pink. The name is perfect because of its similarity to the colour violet. From my experience I can that the shade suits everybody from deeper skin to porcelain one. If you are looking for an everyday sort of a bold-pink tinted lip balm then this product is for you.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is very intense with this lip balm (colour pay-off comparable to sheer lipsticks with glossy finish) just like the Vivid Peach shade from the same range. It gives translucent coverage on my medium pigmented lips in 2 swipes.  I can layer it on with 1-2 more coats if I want a bit more coverage. That means, the colour would show on darker lips too but the opacity will vary as per your natural lip colour.

Texture: Texture wise this lip moisturizer is very light-weight.  It glides on my lips smoothly without any tugging or pulling and gives a nice tingly feeling for some time. Its moisturizing power is not heavy like the Spiced Up! Range of Baby Lips. It will be able to keep your lips moisturized for the summer but in winter you may find it inadequate in terms of moisturizing capability.

Fragrance: It has a very refreshing yet subtle peppermint fragrance that can only be discerned if you apply it. Again I have to say, the fragrance is exactly same as the Vivid Peach variant. You will be able to get a faint hint of the scent if you sniff the balm-stick.

Staying Power: This lip balm, once applied, stays for 2-3 hours without budging. Then it fades evenly for 3-4 hours more.

Effectiveness: Last month I got my hands on the Vivid Peach shade from the Bright Out Loud! Range. So, this time I bought ‘its sister’ the Beaming Violet shade. Both these lip balms have some common features; the texture, fragrance, tingly feeling and colour-payoff. This lip balm gives a moderate fuchsia tint to my lips that brightens up my face. I like lip balms with good colour pay-off and moderate moisturizing power. This Beaming Violet lip balm fulfills both criteria. I have used two more Baby Lips lip balm with similar tint namely Pink Lolita and Berry Bomb. I find this particular shade to be the best among all 3 in terms of the colour intensity and staying power. I am quite happy with this one and thinking about getting the other two shades from this range to complete the whole set of Bright Out Loud! Lip balms in my kitty.

Pros :

  • Vibrant blue-toned pink tint
  • Good colour-payoff with additional sun protection formula
  • Freshening mint fragrance and tingling sensation
  • Compact and ergonomic packaging
  • Light-weight summer-friendly formula

Cons :

  • Price is high for the quantity (considering other Baby Lips balms of similar performance)
  • Formula may feel less moisturizing to some

Verdict : A-

Price : INR 190 for 1.9 gm

Recommendation : I would recommend this lip balm to someone who wants an affordable light-weight blue-toned perky pink lip balm with translucent colour-payoff.

For a lip balm, this has great pigmentation! I also really like this color. :)
