Maybelline is on a roller coaster ride, launching back to back products in the Indian market. I will be reviewing the waterproof gel pencil in glazed toffee which has become my go-to brown kohl. Maybelline launched the gel pencil in 9 beautiful shades, which are perfect for day or night, to create various colourful looks.

Packaging : The gel liner comes in the form of a wooden pencil with a plastic cap. The pencil comes in cardboard packaging which has details of the product, ingredients list, claims, how to use etc. The packing is quite simple and standard.

Shade : Glazed toffee is a true brown color, like a cup of coffee and will suit every eye color (especially black and brown).

Formula & Texture : The product has a very creamy and smooth formula. It glides like butter and does not tug. The formula is completely smudge-proof, which makes it suitable to wear on the lids as eyeliner too. It dries down matte within seconds and does not bleed. After drying, it gives a silky feeling and is very comfortable to wear.

Pigmentation : The pencil has amazing pigmentation. It gives true color with a single swipe. Even while using it on the waterline, you don’t need to layer it on for the color to show.

Staying power : The gel pencil stays for a good 5-6 hours without smudging or bleeding when applied on the waterline. If you have a water-y waterline, the product might come off within a few hours and settle on the lower lash line.

Availability : It is available online at Nykaa and Amazon plus all the major Maybelline counters.

Pros :

  • Easily Available.
  • Variety of shades – nude, green, blue, purple.
  • Feels very comfortable to wear.
  • Dries down completely matte and smudge proof.
  • Does not tug and applies smoothly

Cons :

  • A little expensive for the amount of product.
  • Needs to be sharpened

Verdict : A

Price : INR 499 / 1.1 gm

Recommendation : Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of the Maybelline gel pencil. Though the price is a little steep for the amount of product, the quality didn’t fail.
