Since childhood, rose water has remained the Holy Grail ingredient for all skin beautifying recipes. It acted as a toner, a soothing eye mask ingredient, a facial mist and sometimes even as a perfume for small children who wanted to smell good. With Kama Ayurveda, I got introduced to a whole bunch of new distilled waters that can be used as facial mists or toners like Mogra, Vetiver, Lavender & Sandal wood. I picked up the Kama Ayurveda Pure Lavender Water on the recommendation of my best friend who has been using this for a couple of months now. Though I was not too keen, the thought of a soothing spray on days when I am extremely tired and stressed made me change my decision and I picked it up.

Product Description : Lavender has unparalleled soothing properties that provides an instant boost to the skin and reduces stress with its herbaceous fragrance. Lavender is known for its calming action which makes it perfect for sensitive, irritated skin prone to rashes and allergies. A natural anti-depressant, a few sprays of this water relieves frayed nerves, reduces tension and even aids in getting a good night’s sleep.

Ingredients : It is one of the purest forms of distilled lavender water with JUST Lavender Water mentioned in the ingredients list.

Packaging : Kama Ayurveda Pure Lavender Water comes in a brown colored plastic bottle with a black colored spray nozzle. The nozzle has a transparent cap which I feel is required to keep dirt or dust away from the nozzle. The bottle is not round in shape but has some graphical cuts for better grip.

Formula : A clear, light and cooling water that can be sprayed directly on to skin. It looks watery but has a soft fragrance of lavender which is quite soothing to the senses. Leaves skin revived and hydrated without stickiness or residue. Lavender is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredient that cools and refreshes in the hot and humid weather. It balances skin PH, tightens pores and reduces oiliness. Also excellent as a spritz post waxing, threading or shaving.

Effectiveness : I have tried it as a facial toner or mist after cleansing my skin. I experience instant freshness and the redness due to sun exposure also calms down. The fragrance is so soothing that I feel instantly charged and my mental tiredness is relieved. I also carry it in my purse and just spray it whenever I need that extra freshness on my face and dab it with a soft tissue.

Pros :

  • Soothes and calms skin
  • 100 % natural, refreshing fragrance
  • Travel friendly
  • Free from artificial preservatives / colourants
  • Can be used as toner or facial mist

Cons :

  • Expensive

Verdict : A

Price : Rs. 225 for 50 ml

Recommendation : Perfect for the Indian summers. It is a welcome change from the regular rose water. Works well as a toner and facial mist.
