I am living with a human being who is pretty much blind to anything around the house. Im not kidding, one day I could paint the whole house electric blue and suspend pink handbags from the ceiling and he will probably not notice . I also live with a human being who takes the word ‘living room’ kind of literally. Our living room is the boys ‘living ‘ room. He works from there, he watches tv from there, he sometimes eats there, he ponders deep in thought from there and does whatever other strange things boys do from there. So when I wanted to give up our current living room, it had to be carefully negotiated. ( See our sofas were like heat producing monsters. I swear my butt would be 5 degrees warmer than the rest of my body and while that’s very nice in winters, in June it made me wish I had a detachable bum. And since bum implants are not on the horizon right now, it was easier just changing our sofa.)

Anyway so yeah. Home needed makeover. Plus we didn’t want to spend money. So the grand total I spent on my home makeover was….drum roll please ….. 25,000 Rs !!!!

You see how dark those sofas are??? In a tiny living room, they take up so much weight and feel so heavy.

And yes, I hate my flooring but well when you rent houses in Gurgaon this is what you get (Damn you DLF)

Ta-da . Its not much… Im still redoing the wood to make it distressed white.. but I feel like my space looks bigger now no?  Heres how I did it…

I took my old sofa and got it re-upholstered in this beautiful beige gold. It doesnt show in the photo but its really pretty. I bought the fabric for about  10,000/- Rs and the labour cost was negligible. I still need to change the cushions and buy some nice ones.

I picked up these chairs from Amar Colony. There is a furniture market there will all sorts of treasures. Even the table in the middle is from there. These chairs were beige and brown. I got them painted distressed white, and added a nice floral print fabric to go with the cool, calming effect. The pair of chairs costed my 14,000 Rs.

I still have a ton of stuff to do like I dont like the dark wood anymore and that needs to change (Its funny how when you think you will change one thing..you end up redoing everything. Wonder if plastic surgery works that way….kind of a scary though no?)

Comment below and tell me nice places for cushions. Currently looking for those.
