Some people splurge on handbags. I splurge on skincare.
I think it’s a better investment because well…as much as I love handbags, I hate bags under my eyes more. Sorry, couldn’t resist adding that pun :p Anyway, so if you read my skincare ingredient posts recently you would know that Iv been wanting to include Retinol, Hylarunic Acid, and Vitamin C in my regimen and here’s how I do it.
Disclaimer: I Do not have sensitive skin and my skintype is dry. Also there are certain things missing from my regime which I will come to later.
So I wake up , and even though Im supposed to be doing healthy things like drinking a glass of warm water with lemon in it, I typically am in a rush and have no time. But after my shower, I apply my Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. I cannot tell you enough about this. This serum has Vitamin C & Vitamin E and if there is one product which made a dramatic difference to my skin, it’s this one. I usually always had good skin until I turned 29 and suddenly I would have these marks that wouldn’t go and in general my skin looked tired. I researched a ton about this product before buying it from the Astonishing Skincare website (got it delivered to the USA and then someone brought it for me) and it just makes my skin have a natural radiance and glow. It is so AMAZE it has improved my skin texture over the last 4-5 months. It might feel a bit sticky for some, but I love it.
After this, I apply the Embryollise Lait Creme Concentrate. A french moisturizer (but Im being fancy- just apply anything you like to moisturize). The reason I love my tube of Embryollise is because it makes my skin so soft that if I ever want to apply makeup on top it is literally the best primer ever. You will notice your foundation go on like butter after this. It also keeps me hydrated. When I don’t have the Embryollise one around, I use the Clinique Moisture Thirst Moisturizer (the gel one is good for normal and oily skin…the cream one is for oily skin) or the Biotique morning nectar (I actually really really like this)
After this, I apply the Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 50 cos well, sunscreen is bae. For a lot of people this may all be too much heavy-ness but my skin loves it.
Okies so at night , I first use the Bioderma Sensibio H20 micellar water to remove my makeup. This stuff is magic- works on everything in one single, clean swipe. Post this, I am supposed to be a good girl and cleanse (if you follow Korean beauty, then double cleansing is THE shizz ..but I get lazy). When I do double cleanse I use the Kiehls Daily Facial Cleanser because it just is really neutral and doesn’t dry out my face like most cleansers do.
After cleansing, I use the Estee Lauder Night Repair Serum. This is another gem – at first I was like, Im not sure what this is doing because it doesn’t add that crazy glow overnight. I was thinking I’ll wake up one morning and look like Beyonce- well that didn’t happen. But …ever since I have been using it, I wake up with my skin looking plump, and tight and hydrated at the same time. My face definitely looks like it got a cocktail of care overnight. I also slather some under my eye so I feel like it works there as well. You just wake up with a shine and plumpness to your skin. This has Hylarunic acid as well in it so that’s an added bonus.
On top of this, I apply the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Night Cream (available only on Amazon). This one is not moisturizing for me , but I only use it as a retinol treatment and retinol creams are anyway drying so it’s fine because it’s layered on top of a moisturizing agent. Honestly, I don’t know yet what this does but after my research I found that this is one of the better retinol creams out there with a high concentration of retinol and retinol is like a proven, anti ageing preventive medicine. So if I don’t use retinol, I will get to know the side effects 3 years later. Another disclaimer- retinol can be very irritating to the skin so if you have sensitive skin, consult a dermat.
I also bought the Neutrogena Anti Wrinkle Eye because of good reviews but I’m not entirely convinced cos I feel like that one ends up drying my eye area even more sometimes. So I am on the lookout for new creams. I read the Caroline Hirons blog and am now considering some of the ones she recommends.
Then, If i really really feel like it, I layer a bit of Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate over it during winter time but mostly I am good with what is already going on.
I want a day time eye cream for sure , and I also want to try the Skinceuticals Hylarunic Intensifier just cos it is supposed to be amazing as well. For day eye cream Im considering Tata Harper, Zelens and Skinceutical AOX Gel along with the eye creams reccomended by this dermat here. Obviously the ones I want- none available in India but the first two are available on Cult Beauty website and they ship to India.
Me without foundation on. Just a dab of concealer.
