Call it the Sherlock effect or just plain curiosity, we’ve been on a secret unlocking spree of sorts. Specifically secrets of the skincare kind. Whether its a beauty oil, serum or a particular ingredient – we want to know it all. So when we found out that makeup artist Tejasvini Chander incorporates Vitamin C in her routine, we had to know how. And like always, we’re sharing all the details here :
Name: Tejasvini Chander
Who: Makeup Artist
Age : Late twenties
Skin type: Normal to Dry
Tejasvini says, “Ever since I can remember, I was ALWAYS into makeup! As a little girl, I used to love watching my mom get her eyebrows threaded at the salon. I saw the brow lady trim them with a scissor at the end and came back home and tried to do that for myself which was obviously disastrous. :P I used to pack on layers of Johnson’s baby lotion. . As a teenager, I was into a lot of dancing and stage shows so I had a lot more exposure to makeup than your average teenager.
Through my college years, all I ever did was, watch Youtube Videos. Michelle Phan & Jessica Harlow were my go-to Youtubers at the time. I knew this is what would make me truly happy. My parents also figured this was my calling and were super supportive of it. I was sure I wanted to do makeup professionally and be on Youtube as well. In the last year of college, I started attending Makeup Workshops and started taking makeup more seriously than ever. Cory Walia from Bombay was my first teacher. Cory carved out my path ahead by recommending two schools in London for Hair & Makeup. Soon after college, I moved to London and began training there.
My morning routine – I have Normal to Dry skin that develops flakey dry patches on a bad day ! I swear by the 3-step skincare system from Clinique.
- Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild – Foams up a little, feels refreshing and never strips the skin.
- Clinique Clarifying Lotion – Exfoliating Toner with just the right amount of alcohol. Takes away any dirt that the cleanser may have missed.
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion – Holy Grail Moisturiser. Love the way it works under makeup.
Skincare Secret Sauce
My saviour is cold pressed sweet almond oil. I massage my whole face with a generous amount of almond oil at night if I feel anything is wrong with my skin. After massaging, I wash it off with a cleanser. It makes everything right again! It restores hydration, makes the under eye look better, removes every trace of make up, dissolves excess sebum (if any), heals the skin, lightens marks/scars, and the large amounts of vitamin A in almond oil prevents future breakouts. It always leaves the skin glowing. I also like to use lots of vitamin C before a big event. I make sure I exfoliate with my Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion and follow it up with the Innisfree Vitamin C Sheet Mask. Really makes the skin glow!
Makeup Favourites – Laura Mercier Foundation Prime (with SPF 30) helps me skip sunscreen and is super hydrating. I apply Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Moonstone on the high points of my face so it looks naturally radiant. I always pick liquid illuminators over powder highlighters. My perfect everyday nudey pink is Tom Ford Pussy Cat lipstick. I swear by Benefit Brow Zings for brows and cannot live without my BEAUTY BLENDERS!
My go to base makeup is Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in 3.0 with Chanel Loose Setting Powder in Translucent #30. For my lashes, I love using Shu Uemura Lash Curler and Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara.”
