Sushruthi says, “My participation in the Miss India pageant wasn’t planned for. I wasn’t associated with the fashion world at all, it was something I stumbled upon. I come from a family of doctors, engineers and teachers. It was when I was designing costumes for a college fashion event when some of my friends urged me to walk the ramp. And as they say, the rest is history !
I think the more time I spent understanding fashion and being in the fashion world, I realised how much much I loved designing clothes. And that’s how Kis Cover came to be. I graduated as an Architect so design is something very integral to my life. I’ve always loved it- whether it was designing spaces or outfits. Designing clothes was just a different mode of designing.
My Morning Skincare routine – I have Combination skin and my beauty routine starts with the Neutrogena deep clean cleanser. It’s really good for combination skin type and has changed how my skin works by keeping it balanced . For toner I alternate between Kaya skin toner and rose water. And the last would be the A-Derma moisturiser. This is a great moisturizer for sensitive skin like mine- it hydrates without breaking you out. When I step out during the afternoons, I use Neutrogena sunscreen for sun protection.
Night time routine – My end of day skincare routine is not the usual one with night creams and serums. I start by removing my makeup with Neutrogena makeup remover and follow it up with Neutrogena cleanser. Once my face is squeaky clean, I don’t apply anything with chemicals. Yup. No chemicals after that. Just Bertolli Olive oil. Contrary to popular perception, it doesn’t make my skin oily and even though I have combination skin, it doesn’t break me out. Rather it hydrates, firms up the skin and also helps in closing pores.
On Sundays, I make a paste using turmeric and sesame oil. Then I leave it on for a bit. When I want to wash it off, I do so using a homemade scrub of Chana dal powder and haldi. If my skin feels dry, I add some honey as well. This is also how I prep my skin for any big event / occasion. This ensures my skin is perfectly exfoliated, moisturized and has a natural glow.
My Makeup Essentials – My favourite makeup product is mascara. I like how it opens up and accentuates my eyes. If I had to put on just one product on my face, it would definitely be this. However, when I do apply makeup properly, I begin with Benefit Porefessional primer. Then comes MAC studio fix foundation, Inglot transparent gloss (Sleeks Cream 92), mineralize skin finish highlighter from MAC and Estee Lauder mascara. I don’t generally apply blushes and prefer natural lips.”
